After more than 30 years in classrooms across Australia, Andrew Holt saw something every child needed: tips and tools to understand their thoughts and feelings, get along with others and make wise choices.
Bringing together his teaching experience, his studies in mindfulness for children, positive psychology and modern neuroscience, he created the Wise Kids Series of books, the Wise Kids Quest, and The Shooting Star Movement, a classroom kindness and leadership program.
Today, Wise Kids Academy creates safe spaces
for kids, parents and educators to explore,
share their wisdom and have fun along the way.

To open the world for wise kids, their parents and educators, with tips & tools that help children grow more self-aware, socially aware and responsible.

A world where kids are truly listened to, given safe spaces to explore their interests, and trusted to share their own wisdom.
I grew up in Young, the Cherry Capital of Australia in south-west NSW, and spent many weekends helping out on my grandparents' sheep, cattle and crop farm.
I trained as a primary school teacher at Charles Sturt University in Bathurst, then taught Indonesian and English as a Second Language in Canberra. Since then I've worked with children from all backgrounds overseas and around Australia, including remote communities in the Kimberley, near Alice Springs and Tennant Creek, and the West Daly Region.
Today I'm a district relief teacher in Kingaroy, Queensland, working across 10 primary schools. You'll also find me at the Nanango Country Markets on the first Saturday of each month.
I believe kids have their own valuable views on the world, if we only listen. And don't be surprised if I have you jumping for your dreams when we meet!

A warm, imaginative journey through the outback that helps children connect big feelings about confidence and choice to the simple wonders of nature and family. Woven through with reflective questions, it invites young readers and their parents to pause and unpack what it truly means to feel empowered."
"
I liked that we went to people and gave stars away. I feel like giving stars away to people. It made them feel hopeful of their stall."
"
Thank you for sharing your gorgeous book with my daughter and myself, we thoroughly enjoyed it. We really loved reading this together, my daughter loved the rhyming and I loved how each chapter discussed a different topic. It was like a key we could use to open a door of discussion on so many topics that perhaps aren’t always talked about in daily life. Great format, loved the pictures, and it kept the attention of my nine-year-old.”
